My professional background is in business analysis and process improvement. My favorite part of my job was creating information using visual graphics to tell the story of the journey we had been on to analyse problems and develop solutions. This of course involved tailoring the information to best meet the needs of the chosen audience.
Following my passion for visual communication I returned to study and completed an Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design from the Canberra Institute of Technology. The CIT course taught me design theory and loads of practice creating work using industry standard software. I then went on to complete a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communications) from the University of Canberra. At UC I dived into more specialist areas like digital design, environmental design, interaction design, and information graphics. I have found that many of the skills I developed in my career are also important in graphic design projects. Such as communication, time management, and continuous learning.
I am a problem solver at heart and I love working with people. I have worked as a volunteer freelancer creating logos and branding for small businesses, I also volunteer as a graphic designer for ACT Rescue and Foster Dogs, creating promotional material and graphics. I aim to find a full time position in Canberra and work across multiple areas of graphic design such as identity and branding, marketing and advertising, publications, packaging, environmental design, web and digital design, motion graphics, video production and photography.
